A third straight loss for Dustin Hazelett (12-7) all but assured his dismissal from the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and now news of his release was confirmed on Tuesday.
Hazelett’s last loss came just two weekends ago at UFC 124 in Montreal after he was submitted by Mark Bocek in the first round of their bout. Hazelett had tried to regain some of his earlier success by dropping back down to lightweight for the fight, but it failed to bring him a victory.
His three recent losses include defeats at the hands of Bocek, Rick Story by TKO at UFC 117, and to Paul Daley by knockout at UFC 108. Under the UFC banner Hazelett’s record is 5-5 fighting in the lightweight and welterweight divisions.
Hazelett had been sidelined in 2009 due to a knee injury which required surgery. He was preparing to meet Ben Saunders at UFC 96 when the injury occurred.
