Another bout was added to the UFC Fight Night 68 card in New Orleans.
Brazilian featherweight Thiago Tavares announced on Tuesday that he is scheduled to return to the Octagon against undefeated Brian Ortega at the Smoothie King Center on June 6. Tavares was originally set to meet Zubaira Tukhugov, who pulled out due to an injury.
The promotion has yet to officially announce the match-up.
Tavares (19-5-1) impressed in his featherweight debut last August, tapping Robbie Peralta with a rear-naked choke in the first round. The veteran, who steps inside the Octagon for the 16th time, won his past couple fights via first-round submission.
Ortega (8-0, 1 no-contest), a former RFA featherweight champion, made quick work of Mike De La Torre in his promotional debut in July, winning via submission in 99 seconds, but had his win overturned to a no contest after testing positive for drostanolone.
UFC Fight Night 68 will be headlined by Dan Henderson vs. Tim Boetsch. The co-main will feature heavyweights Matt Mitrione and Ben Rothwell.
