Hey, remember when mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters thought the answer to a rough career patch was to go on The Machinist diet and try their luck in the skin-and-bones division?

Soooooo 2010.

That’s probably why former welterweight title contender, Darren Till, is ready to give up the near-death experiences rubber suits and bath salts in exchange for more power and ultimately, more longevity. And now he’s calling for any and all available middleweights to come get a piece.

Again.

The 16-2 “Gorilla” could certainly use a change of scenery, having been finished in his last two fights. Not that losing to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal makes you a bum — they happen to be two of the best in the world — but the 170-pound title has certainly faded from view.

The only downside to a trip north is the level of competition. It may be a bit early to be calling for the winner of Yoel Romero vs. Paulo Costa, but there’s no reason why Till, 26, can’t try his luck against an aging veteran like Chris Weidman.

What say you?
