Darren Till has discussed how he would fair at 185-pounds in the UFC.
Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till has given his take on T.J. Dillashaw’s two-year suspension and analysed how he would fit in at 185-pounds.
Till (17-2-1) hasn’t fought since suffering a second-round knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC London in March. The Liverpudlian was undefeated before his string of recent losses, prior to his fight with Masvidal he suffered a submission loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC 228 last year.
Speaking for the first time since his loss to Masvidal to Fighters Only magazine, Till said Dillashaw’s unsuccessful cut to flyweight made him consider big weight cuts.
“Obviously TJ got popped for whatever he got popped for,” Till said. “As I say, it’s none of my (expletive) business really. I don’t think he really should have been doing it and fair play he came out and said, ‘Blah, blah.’ But again, none of my business.
“When he fought Cejudo he did look physically – he looked like me at 170 (pounds). He just didn’t look like TJ, because TJ’s a beast. (Henry) Cejudo’s a very good fighter as well, but I think it would have been different at a higher weight.”
Till concluded by discussing how he would fair in the UFC’s middleweight division. He said despite having to move up 15-pounds he feels he wouldn’t be small in the weight class.
“I do have to think about them things,” Till said. “I wouldn’t be small at 185. I’d be right in the mix in there with them guys. The great guy, the interim champ Israel (Adesanya) is a great fighter. The champ (Robert Whittaker) is a good fighter. There’s a few beasts. The one guy who is a scary guy is Yoel (Romero).”
