Former welterweight title challenger Darren Till, who put the 185-pound division on notice with his UFC 244 victory over top-ranked contender Kelvin Gastelum, has been trying to talk his way into a championship title fight.
Even if it means coaching the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Unfortunately for “The Gorilla,” Adesanya is already spoken for. Aside from middleweight bruiser Paulo Costa, widely expected to be next in line for the 185-pound strap, “The Last Stylebender” has flirted with the idea of moving up in weight.
“He fucked me off for the fuckin’ Ultimate Fighter, he said ‘No.’ So I was like, ‘Okay…okay…wait until I fuckin’ burst Robert Whittaker’s head and then we’ll see what you’re saying, you stupid, scrawny little cunt!’” Till told Eurobash. “He messaged me the other day like, ‘Darren, KFC’s back open mate, get your fat arse down there.’ I was like, ‘I’ll be there mate, don’t worry.’ He’s actually a good guy, he is.”
Till is booked to throw down against former champion Robert Whittaker in the upcoming UFC “Fight Night” main event on Aug. 15 in Dublin, Ireland, though it’s unknown how the coronavirus pandemic will affect that late-summer showdown.
“Listen mate, we are going to fight. I don’t care what anyone says; we are going to fight and the best man will win,” Till said. “I believe I will beat him and I will become the middleweight champion. It’s going to be epic, but until then, I’ve got no hard feeling towards that man. I’m going to punch a hole through his face and he’s probably going to punch one through mine. He gets the joke, he gets the banter, he gets that we’re frienemies. Let’s make this fucking fight massive.”
Sounds like fun … though I’m sure this top contender may have something to say about it.
