The most important heavyweight bout in years will finally go down later this evening (Sat., Aug. 15, 2020) at UFC 252 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier collide for a third time. Miocic will be putting his UFC heavyweight title on the line and the winner if expected to go down as the best heavyweight fighter in UFC history.
With the stakes high both fighters are expected to be at their absolute best. Neither heavyweight has fought since their last meeting at UFC 241 nearly one year ago, but the long layoff has likely prepared Miocic and Cormier better than ever. Training amidst the COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t easy, but both fighters looked to be in great shape when they stepped on the scales on Friday (see it HERE).
Needless to say, this is a massive fight and one of the biggest matchups of 2020. It is also expected to be Cormier’s final appearance inside of the Octagon, making it a memorable affair that will determine the final chapter in the legendary career of “DC.”
Fight fans will be tuning in from around the world to see the heavyweight trilogy play out live on ESPN+ PPV from “Sin City,” but when exactly will Miocic and Cormier start their main event?
With four other fights taking place on the PPV main card starting at 10:00 p.m. ET, Miocic vs. Cormier 3 is likely to begin sometime around 12:00 a.m. ET (Sunday). The co-main event will showcase a bantamweight clash between rising star Sean O’Malley and veteran Marlon Vera. While “Sugar” has finished his last two Octagon bouts via first-round knockout, Vera has never been finished in his professional career and his likely to last a little longer. Outside of a heavyweight clash between Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik that could end the second it starts, the rest of the main card bouts are likely to go at least a few rounds.
If things do run late (or even early) Mania will be sure to provide an updated start time for tonight’s Miocic vs. Cormier 3 main event.
