One of the biggest boxing matchups of the year will unfold later tonight (Sat., July 20, 2019) live on FOX PPV from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when reigning WBA (Regular) welterweight champion and combat legend Manny Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) meets undefeated Keith Thurman (29-0-1 NC, 22 KOs) in a main event clash for Thurman’s WBA (Super) welterweight title.
This is an interesting matchup to say the least. While fight fans know exactly what Pacquiao is capable of doing inside of the ring, “Pac-Man” is facing a fighter who possesses enough power to disrupt everything he does well. Pacquiao will have to dig deep and prove yet again that his 40-year-old mind and body are capable of outlasting the best names in the game, even after coming off victories over Lucas Matthysse and Adrien Broner.
Thurman, on the other hand, will be entering the most high-profile bout of his professional boxing career. The 30-year-old champion struggled pretty significantly in his first fight in two years back in January won he defeated Josesito Lopez by majority decision, but “One Time” still possesses an undefeated record and enough punching power to get past any challenger in his way. That is why Thurman’s fight with Pacquiao is so darn interesting.
But when exactly can fight fans expect “Pac-Man” and “One Time” to step inside of the boxing ring for their main event fight?
Boxing is always tricky to time given the lengthy in-event promotions and introductions, but Pacquiao and Thurman should begin their respective walks to the ring sometime around 11:30 p.m. ET (subject to change so keep it tuned into Mania for any updates). That will come after three additional fights on the FOX PPV main card, including a co-main event clash between welterweights Yordenis Ugas and Omar Figueroa Jr.
Make sure you don’t miss the action as Pacquiao tries to make more history inside of the boxing ring and hand Thurman his first professional loss.
