We are just hours away from the anticipated heavyweight title rematch between WBC champion Deontay Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KO) and lineal king Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20 KOs) later tonight (Sat., Feb. 22, 2020) live on ESPN+ PPV from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The two heavyweight stars will be running it back from their initial meeting in December of 2018, which saw Fury rise from the dead late in the fight after a Wilder knockdown to score a split draw on the scorecards. It is widely regarded as one of the best boxing matchups of the past few years and a prelude to an ultra-important rematch.
This time around, both Wilder and Fury have packed on some extra weight in order to score more damage with their punches. It makes the most sense for Wilder considering the legendary heavyweight knockout artist couldn’t finish Fury will his best punch in their initial meeting, but it also makes sense for Fury as he tries to give “Bronze Bomber” a taste of his own medicine in the early rounds.
This is a massive fight to say the least. Not only are Wilder and Fury fighting for ultimate bragging rights in the biggest boxing match of the year, but they are competing to see who will go down as the best heavyweight fighter in the world today. After all, both men remain undefeated in their professional careers and have dominated the competition to date.
But when exactly can fight fans expect “Bronze Bomber” and ”Gypsy King” to step inside of the ring for their anticipated rematch?
Boxing is always tricky to time given the lengthy in-event promotions and introductions, but Wilder and Fury should begin their respective walks to the ring sometime around 11:00 p.m. ET (subject to change so keep it tuned into Mania for any updates). That will come after three fights spark off the ESPN+ PPV main card starting at 9:00 p.m. ET, including a co-main event heavyweight clash between veterans Charles Martin and Gerald Washington and a super bantamweight title fight pitting current WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete against Jeo Santisima.
