Current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is staying positive following his loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196. As seen in the fight, McGregor was winning the fight in round one with his strikes and Diaz was bleeding from his temple. However, the fight went downhill for McGregor in round two. Diaz hurt him with a left hook then McGregor shot in for a takedown, but it was stuffed. Diaz got back mount and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.
TMZ Sports recently caught up with McGregor and asked him about a possible rematch with Diaz.
“I’m ready to go again,” McGregor told TMZ. “I had a great time. It was a good fight, a hell of a fight. I look forward to coming back with a vengeance.”
“I think I’d like to see that, yea?” McGregor said of a future rematch with Diaz. “I mean, it’s one that interests me, most certainly. You know, when I look at the fight I was winning the fight. I won the first round and a half, I feel. I’d love to get that one back. We’ll see how it goes. Money talks. Life is good.”
It appears that an immediate rematch between the two men is not going to happen according to UFC President Dana White who has went on record and confirmed that McGregor will be fighting at UFC 200 in his first featherweight title defense.
McGregor will either fight Frankie Edgar or Jose Aldo next.
