The remaining orphaned bout from the recently cancelled UFC 151 event has found a new home as featherweights Dennis ‘The Menace’ Siver (20-8) and Eddie ‘The Filipino Phenom’ Yagin (16-5-1) will now square off this December as part of UFC on FOX 5.
Joining them will be lightweights Michael ‘Maverick’ Chiesa (8-0), winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” season 15, and Brazilian Rafaello ‘Tractor’ Oliveira (15-5), as well as bantamweights Scott ‘Young Guns’ Yorgensen (13-6) and John ‘Prince’ Albert (7-3)
Officials made the matches official for the Seattle show at UFC.com.
The featherweight match-up between Dennis Siver and Eddie Yagin — the last orphaned UFC 151 bout to be rescheduled — now has a new home on the FOX 5 card taking place this December.
At lightweight, Ultimate Fighter Live winner Michael “Maverick” Chiesa will face Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Rafaello “Tractor” Oliveira in Chiesa’s home state of Washington. Another Washington state fighter, John Albert, will face longtime veteran Scott Jorgensen in a bantamweight clash on that same night.
UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Diaz is expected to take place on December 8, 2012 at KeyArena in Seattle, Washington.
Siver is 5-1 in his last six bouts, winning his featherweight debut over Diego Nunes at UFC on FUEL TV 2 last April. The loss in that stretch was Siver’s last at 155-lbs, having tapped out to Donald Cerrone in the first round of their match at UFC 137.
Yagin is 3-1 and just 1-1 in his two Octagon appearances. The Filipino earned his first win under the UFC banner last April at UFC 145 by winning a split decision against Mark Hominick. Yagin lost his debut bout to Junior Assunção at UFC 135 via unanimous decision.
Chiesa has yet to taste defeat in his pro-career, having won season fifteen of “TUF” on June 1st over fellow castmate Al Iaquinta. He’s earned six victories by submission and two by decision.
Oliveira ended a two fight losing skid by earning a unanimous decision over Yoislandy Izquierdo in July at UFC 148. The previous losses came at the hands of Yves Edwards at UFC on Versus 6 and to Gleison Tibau at UFC 130.
Joregensen is 0-2 and will look for a big win over Albert at the FOX event. ‘Young Guns’ suffered a knockout loss to Eddie Wineland at UFC on FX 3 and was beaten by decision versus Renan Barão at UFC 143. Jorgensen scored his last win over Jeff Curran at UFC 137.
Albert is 1-2, having dropped two-straight since debuting at the TUF 14 Finale. ‘Prince’ was submitted by Erik Perez this past June at the TUF 15 Finale and was forced to tap against Ivan Menjivar at UFC on FX 1 in February of this year.
