A pair of season eleven “TUF” participants, series winner Court ‘The Crusher’ McGee (13-2) and Nick ‘The Promise’ Ring (12-1), are in negotiations to meet at the recently announced UFC 149 event this summer in Calgary, Alberta.
McGee’s representatives, the AMR Group, confirmed with MMAWeekly.com that a the match between the two fighters has been offered but no contract has been issued yet.
UFC 149 is expected to take place on July 21, 2012 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
McGee and Ring met in the preliminary round of the reality series, with Ring earning a Majority Decision in their bout. Due to an injury to Rich Attonito on the show, McGee was brought back in to compete in the quarter-finals against Ring in a rematch. Ring also suffered an injury and was replaced by James Hammortree, who lost to McGee via second round submission.
Currently in the UFC, McGee is coming off his first Octagon loss having dropped a decision to Constantinos Philippou earlier this month at the UFC on FX 2 show in Australia. The defeat ended an eight fight win streak for McGee which included three wins under the UFC banner, his last coming as a decision victory against Dongi Yang in September at UFN 25.
Ring suffered his first pro loss in his last fight, losing a decision to Tim Boetsch at UFC 135. That ended a twelve fight win streak for the ‘Promise Ring’ who earned a submission win against James Head at UFC 131 and a decision against Riki Fukuda at UFC 127.
