Tweet of the day: Rory MacDonald reacts to Paul Daley’s Bellator 170 post-fight callout

Paul Daley wasted no time calling out Rory MacDonald after knocking out Brennan Ward at Bellator 170. MacDonald similarly wasted no time responding.

On Saturday, Paul Daley scored a sensational flying knee KO of Brennan Ward at Bellator 170, and in the British welterweight’s post-fight interview, he immediately called out former UFC title challenger Rory MacDonald. Daley boldly stated that MacDonald would get “knocked the f**k out” if he stepped into the cage with him.

MacDonald went to Twitter to respond to Daley’s statement, and he cited a scene from the movie Dinner for Schmucks for his reaction.

MacDonald (18-4) signed with Bellator last August, following failed contract negotiations with the UFC. He entered free agency after a unanimous decision loss to Stephen Thompson in last June’s UFC Ottawa main event, which was his first fight after his devastating knockout loss to Robbie Lawler at UFC 189.

The 27-year-old doesn’t plan to make his Bellator debut until this summer, as he said he wanted time off to heal his damaged nose following his fights vs. Lawler and Wonderboy. A MacDonald vs. Daley matchup would certainly be a fine main event for one of Bellator’s “tentpole” offerings, so we’ll see if that’s what materializes a few months down the road.
