UFC Fight Night 92 emanated tonight (August 6, 2016) from the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Featherweight headliners Yair Rodriguez and Alex Caceres did not disappoint.
The two Tae Kwon Do practitioners threw all the spinning and flying attacks we have come to expect from them. In the end, Rodriguez continued to prove too elusive to hit consistently. He seemed to tire in the third and fourth rounds before reemerging in the fifth, but Caceres was too beat up by that point to capitalize. Though the decision was preposterously of the split variety, Rodriguez came away with an impressive victory in an entertaining scrap.
In the co-feature, fellow 145-pounders Dennis Bermudez and Rony “Jason” Bazzera battled it out, and it was “The Menace” who emerged victorious. The Long Island MMA rep grounded his Brazilian counterpart and opened a huge gash on his forehead in the first. More ground and pound followed in the second. In the final round, as Bermudez fished for yet another takedown, “Jason” hit a beautiful switch to take the American’s back. He very nearly sank in a rear naked choke to author an unlikely comeback, but Bermudez escaped. He was awarded a unanimous decision for his efforts.

Brutal elbow. Blood everywhere.

If you want to beat up a guard grappler, do it against the fence, where hip mobility is limited. Bermudez is just bombing here. #UFCSLC

This fight makes me think… you know what’d be a good name for an MMA website? Bloody Elbow. How has no one thought of that? @BloodyElbow

Bermudez and Jason come thru and save the card with some action. And it’s only been 1 RD. That’s not a cut, it’s a gash ???? #UFCSLC

You know how MLB broadcasters have a tool for estimating home run distance? UFC needs an equivalent for blood loss.

Not a terrible round if you’re Caceres. Stann keeps mentioning it, lot of energy by Yair early. Five rounds, at altitude. Yair 10-9 tho.
— Brett Okamoto (@bokamotoESPN) August 7, 2016
Wait Yair Rodriguez actually only know how to throw crazy spinning shit…zero normal strikes #UFCSLC

I’m pretty sure that Yair will be exposed within two fights. He’s fun to watch, yes, but his attacks are singular and predictable now
