A couple of bouts were added to the June UFC on Versus 4 event, bringing the total number of matches on the card to twelve.
A welterweight matchup between Matt Riddle (5-2) vs. T.J. Grant (16-5), and a lightweight bout featuring Nik “The Carny” Lintz (21-3-2) vs. Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira (14-1) was announced by UFC President Dana White for the event.
Another intriguing matchup is on tap for the UFC on Versus card on June 26th, as UFC President Dana White announced that verbal agreements are in for a welterweight scrap between TJ Grant and Matthew Riddle.
Dynamic lightweight prospect Charles Oliveira will look to rebound from the first loss of his career (against Jim Miller) when he takes on Nik Lentz (who has not lost in six UFC bouts) in a match that was verbally agreed to today. The two will duke it out on the UFC on Versus card on June 26th.
UFC on Versus 4 (aka UFC Live: Marquardt vs. Johnson) is set to go down at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on June 26 with the main card airing live on the Versus Network in the U.S., while fans in Canada can watch the event on Rogers Sportsnet.
Riddle, a former “TUF 7″ cast member, will meet his second Canadian opponent in a row when he faces Grant, and enters the fight on a unanimous decision loss to Sean Pierson at UFC 124. The defeat ended a two fight win streak over DaMarques Johnson at UFC on Versus 2, and a disqualification win over Greg Soto at UFC 11.
Grant also lost in his last fight, and is 1-2 in his last three. The Canadian dropped a unanimous decision to Ricardo Almeida at UFC 124. He earned a decision over Julio Paulino at UFC 119 and lost a majority decision to Johny Hendricks at UFC 113.
Lentz enters the fight on a four fight win streak, and a fourteen fight undefeated run, and is 5-0-1 in the UFC. “The Carny” appeared at last months UFC Fight Night 24 event, stopping Waylon Lowe with a third round submission. Previous to that he earned a split decision over Tyson Griffin at UFC 123, and unanimous decisions over Andre Winner at UFC 118 and Rob Emerson at UFC Fight Night 21.
Oliveria suffered the first defeat of his career against Jim Miller at UFC 124, losing by first round submission. Previous to that in his two UFC appearances he earned a third round submission win over Efrain Escudero in a 159 lbs catchweight bout, and a first round submisison over Darren Elkins in his promotional debut at UFC on Versus 2.
