Jake Paul may have talked a big game before his fight with Mike Tyson last night on Netflix, but the social media stat didn’t want to hurt the fighter he grew up watching.

There was a massive turnout for Paul’s main event clash with Tyson, but that didn’t take away from the fact that “Iron Mike” probably should not have been in the ring. The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion has not fought professionally in almost 20 years and just recovered from a bad ulcer earlier this year. After one round of action fight fans quickly saw that Tyson is completely washed and too old to be fighting opponents half his age.

With Tyson immobile after the first two minutes of action Paul was gifted a prime opportunity to pick the boxing icon apart. He had stopped or at least knocked down every opponent he’s faced to date so most thought he’d be able to stop a completely sluggish Tyson.

However, the finish never came. Paul dominated the action from the middle rounds through the end of the fight, but he really didn’t push the envelope to score the finish. It was a bit of a let down even if we didn’t want to see Tyson get stopped by a YouTuber.

After his lopsided victory (highlights HERE), Paul spoke with reporters at the post-fight press conference and revealed that he was in fact pulling punches against “Iron Mike.”

Check it out below and let us know if you think Paul should have tried for the finish or if he did the right thing:

“Yeah definitely [took my foot off the gas],” said Paul. “Definitely a bit. I wanted to give the fans a show but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”
