Saturday nights UFC 121 opening pay-per-view bout features a welterweight tilt between Paulo Thiago (13-2) and Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez. These two exciting fighters look to prove themselves by erasing a loss in their last fight, setting the pace for the rest of the ppv event.
Since his unanimous decision loss to Martin Kampmann at UFC 115, Thiago has gone back to the drawing board and dedicated himself to focusing purely on his next fight with Sanchez.
“When I came back to Brasilia after the UFC 115, my intent was to make the gym my house, training in the morning, afternoon and night. Like I mentioned, to find the mistakes and what wasn’t really going well, and let them out of my day-to-day routine to reduce the chances of a loss and it was what I did: mistake-less training…Look, I feel pressured for myself. I hate losing, feel bothered when the things don’t run like planned. If he is pressured, I don’t know, each one reacts on his own way, but I will defeat him at any cost.
”
The loss to Kampmann ended back-to-back wins over Mike Swick and Jacob Volkmann for Thiago, who rebounded from his first professional loss. So far the Brazilian Ji-Jitsu black belt is 3-2 in the UFC, which includes a knockout win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 95.
