Jason Reinhardt (20-1) and Chinese “The Mongolian Wolf” Tiequan Zhang (17-1) have been booked to meet again, they’ll square off at the upcoming UFC 127 event in Australia next month. Both men will drop down to 145 lbs for the fight according to Portal do Vale Tudo.
Reinhardt had been booked as Zhang’s first opponent in his WEC debut at WEC 51 in September but failed an eye exam and was forced off the card. Zhang instead faced Pablo Garza in his promotional debut winning the match by guillotine choke submission.
Now, both fighters will make their UFC debut’s at the Australian event next month.
Reinhardt has fought for a number of different promotions over his career but hasn’t had a professional fight since January of 2008. This will be a tough test after a three year lay-off. Reinhardt has won 16 of his career victories via submission and 4 via (T)KO.
Zhang went 1-1 in the WEC having lost his last bout to Danny Downes by unanimous decision last month at WEC 53. The China Top Team fighter will drop to featherweight as his coaches felt he’d be a better fit at that weight class because of his short stature. Zhang has earned 9 of his 12 victories by submission and three by (T)KO.
UFC 127:Penn vs. Fitch will take place on Feb. 27 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia marking the promotions second trip ‘down under.’
