UFC 129 “Fight Night” Bonus Puts $129,000 In Fighters Hands

UFC 129 PosterSaturday night saw the biggest mixed martial arts event in North American history as UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields went down in Toronto, Ontario at the Rogers Centre, for the promotions first ever visit to the Province, and first ever, stadium event.

At the post fight press-conference UFC President Dana White noted that a total of 55,724 fans crossed the turnstiles of the stadium, for a live gate total of $12.075 million.

With such a large event, White also offered “Fight Night” winners $129,000 in bonuses for their work.

Winning “Fight of the Night” were the co-main event competitors, Featherweight champ Jose Aldo and his opponent Mark Hominick, who went the distance to the cheers of the crowd. The “Knockout of the Night” went to Lyoto Machida for his second round knockout of Randy Couture, surprising everyone with a front kick that sent the Hall of Famer to the mat. The “Submission of the Night” was earned by Pablo Garza for his first round triangle choke submission of Yves Jabouin in the opening bout of the nights festivities.
