Former WEC champion, and likely UFC lightweight contender, Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis (15-2) earned his second straight victory in the Octagon as part of the opening main card bout for UFC 144.

Pettis would land a kick to the side of opponent Joe Lauzon’s head, sending the multi-“Fight Night” bonus winner to the mat at 81-seconds of the first round.

With the win, Pettis is being considered as the first opponent for the newly crowned UFC lightweight champ Ben Henderson. It would be a rematch of their WEC 53 title match from December 2010, which saw Pettis win a unanimous decision over Henderson.
