Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White announced a lightweight matchup for the Memorial Day weekend as fighters Edson ‘Junior’ Barboza (10-0) and Evan ’3-D’ Dunham (13-2) have agreed to meet at the Las Vegas event.
White announced the bout Sunday afternoon via Twitter (@DanaWhite).
– For the UFC 147 card May 16th in Vegas we just signed Edson Barboza vs Evan Dunham!! #funfight
– Lol I hate typing on the I phone!!!! It’s UFC 146 and it’s May 26th for Barboza vs Dunham.
UFC 146 is expected to take place on May 26, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is also expected to host a heavyweight title bout between champion Junior dos Santos versus former Strikeforce champ, Alistair Overeem.
Barboza is undefeated in his mixed martial arts career and is 4-0 in the Octagon since his debut in November 2010. ‘Junior’ won his third straight “Fight of the Night” bonus, as well as his first “Knockout of the Night” bonus for finishing opponent Terry Etim with a spinning wheel kick at UFC 142 last month in Brazil. Barboza earned his other two bonuses versus Ross Pearson and Anthony Njokuani.
Dunham has won two straight and is 6-2 fighting for the UFC. ’3-D’ also won a “FON” bonus after a second round TKO (doctor stoppage) of Nik Lentz last month at the UFC on FOX 2 show in Chicago. In 2011, Dunham earned a unanimous decision versus Shamar Bailey at UFN 25 and was stopped by Melvin Guillard via TKO at the Fight for the Troops 2 just over a year ago.
