The official weigh-ins for this weekends UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar event is set to take place later this afternoon in Las Vegas, Nevada with twenty-two fighters set to hit the scales for the live event.
The first UFC “Super Fight” is set to headline as featherweight champ Jose Aldo takes on former lightweight title holder Frankie Edgar, while light heavyweights Rashad Evans and Antônio Rogério Nogueira take the co-main event position.
Heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva will bring their feud to a boil on the pay-per-view card which also features bouts between welterweights Jon Fitch vs. Demian Maia and a flyweight match featuring Joseph Benavidez vs. Ian McCall.
The official UFC 156 event takes place on Feb. 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas with the main card airing on pay-per-view, while the prelim card is split between FX and Facebook.
Update: Fighter Dustin Kimura failed to make weight coming in at 139.5-lbs on his first trip to the scale. He will not attempt a further weight-cut to make the bantamweight limit for his bout with Chic Camus (134-lbs). The two will meet in a catchweight bout and Kimura will suffer a fine of 20% to his fight purse for missing weight.
Also, event openers Edwin Figueroa and Francisco Rivera both failed to make weight on their first attempt but made weight on their second attempts. Figueroa hit the scales at 136-lbs and Rivera weighed in at 135.5-lbs.
