A welterweight bout has been added to this February’s upcoming UFC 157 pay-per-view event, pitting Canadian Brock ‘The Machine’ Jardine (9-2) against Illinois fighter Kenny Robertson (11-2).
The bout was announced on this past weekend by UFC officials.
The two will certainly meet on the prelim card of UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche, scheduled for February 23, 2013 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event is headlined by the first appearance of female fighters inside the Octagon as women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey defends her title against Liz Carmouche.
Jardine has made just one appearance with the UFC losing his debut bout to Rick Story by decision this past June at the UFC on FX 4 show. Jardine was a replacement for injured fighter Papy Abedi. Previous to that loss, ‘The Macine’ had earned three straight wins with various promotions.
Robertson has yet to earn a win inside the Octagon in his two stints with the promotion going 0-2 so far. He fought this past July versus Aaron Simpson at the UFC on FUEL TV 4 event after stepping in for an injured Jon Fitch. Robertson would lose that match by decision. Previous to that he fought in Finland for a local promotion their picking up a first round victory which put him back into the win column after losing his debut bout with the UFC at UFC 126. He lost via second round TKO versus Mike Pierce which ended a ten fight win streak.
