Officials with the Canadian office of the Ultimate Fighting Championship added two more bouts to the upcoming UFC 158 card in Montreal on Monday.
Featherweights Antonio ‘Pato’ Carvalho (15-5) and Darren ‘The Damage’ Elkins (15-2) will square off as well as bantamweight fighters Mitch Gagnon (9-2) and Issei Tamura (7-3).
UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz is expected to take place on March 16, 2013 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event features six welterweight bouts including a title fight between champ Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce title holder Nick Diaz.
Carvalho has won two in a row and is 5-1 in his last six matches. The Canadian fighter picked up a split decision last November in Montreal defeating Rodrigo Damm at UFC 154. The other win also came on Canadian soil with a first round knockout of Daniel Pineda at UFC 149.
Elkins has put together four decision wins in a row and finds himself with a 5-1 record inside the Octagon. His last fight also went down at the UFC 154 event with a win against Steven Siler. His other three wins were against Diego Brandao at UFC 146, Zhang Tiequan at UFC 136, and Michihiro Omigawa at UFC 131.
Gagnon, another Canadian fighter, is 1-1 since joining the UFC since this summer submitting Walel Watson in his last fight at UFC 152 last September. The loss, which came in July at UFC 149 in Calgary, was a “Fight of the Night” loss to Bryan Caraway who used a rear-naked choke to end the fight.
Tamura is also 1-1 in the Octagon and is just 2-3 in his last five bouts. His last fight took place in July at the UFC on FUEL TV 4 event in San Jose, losing via second round TKO. He won his debut at home in Japan by stopping Chinese fighter Zhang Tiequan via knockout at UFC 144.
