UFC on Fox Sports 1: Shogun vs. Sonnen is expected to take place on August 17, 2013 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Headlining will be former UFC champ Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua vs. Chael Sonnen.
Elliott holds a 1-1 record with the top promotion after debuting in May 2012, losing to John Dodson at the UFC on FOX 3 event. Elliott stepped in as a late replacement for Darren Uyenoyama at the event. The fighter won his first UFC match this past December in a “Fight of the Night” match at the TUF 16 Finale by defeating Jared Papazian by decision.
Gaudinot is a former TUF 14 competitor under Team Bisping and holds the same 1-1 record as his opponent. ‘Goodnight’ fought in a 127-lbs catchweight bout in May of last year, choking out opponent John Lineker at UFC on FOX 3. Gaudinot also earned a “FON” bonus for that win. He lost his debut bout at the TUF 14 Finale, losing to Johnny Bedford.
