UFC 172 is finally official, as light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (19-1) will look to defend his belt against No. 2 ranked contender Glover Teixeira (22-2) in the night’s main event, which is scheduled to take place April 26, 2014 at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, MD.
UFC officials confirmed the date on Friday via a report from the Baltimore Sun.
The No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC, Jones, 26, will attempt to extend his own record for consecutive light heavyweight title defenses, which currently sits at six.
Since losing via disqualification in 2009, Jones has ripped off 10 straight victories over the likes of Mauricio Rua, Quinton Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, Alexander Gustafsson, and more.
Teixeira, 34, is undefeated over his last 20 contents, including five straight wins under the UFC banner.
Tickets for UFC 172 go on sale February 7, 2014.
