This week, UFC released a new list of what they rank as the top ten events in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Out of the ten shows selected as the best in company-history, a list that covers over 20 years of territory that dates back to the innaugural UFC 1: The Beginning event that took place on November 12, 1993, a show that took place just two months ago was chosen as the greatest of all-time by the company in the list that was published on the official UFC website as a promotional piece for the upcoming UFC 205 event.
The show, which ironically enough takes place on the same November 12th date as the first UFC event ever, features a “Champion versus Champion” main event between 145-pound title-holder Conor McGregor and 155-pound title-holder Eddie Alvarez as the introductary event in New York hosted at the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena.
The UFC 202 event that took place on August 20, 2016 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada was named the number one show in UFC history. The show featured the highly-anticipated 170-pound immediate rematch between UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and the first man to defeat him inside UFC’s world-famous Octagon, Nate Diaz.
The Irish mega-star known as “The Notorious” would go on to beat the Stockton, California native in one of the most thrilling main events ever, avenging his only UFC defeat and setting the number one all-time record for biggest reported fight purse in promotional history at three-million dollars.

After their first fight came together quickly and burned hot for two weeks straight, the rematch between McGregor and Nathan Diaz had a slow, steady build that reached a fever pitch by the time the two hit the Octagon to close out this show. McGregor got a measure of revenge, winning a unanimous decision over his rival from Stockton and the fans got a second outstanding fight from the two gutsy competitors.
They also got Anthony Johnson showing off his scary power with a 13-second knockout of Glover Teixeira, who previously hadn’t been finished in over a decade, Donald Cerrone going Street Fighter II on Rick Story, Cody “No Love” starching Takeya Mizugaki and calling out Dominick Cruz as the bantamweight champion watched from the broadcast booth and plenty more.
