It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, September 10th, 2016) will come in the form of UFC 203. Headlining the card are Alistair Overeem and Stipe Miocic, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.
Jessica Eye (11-5, 1NC) vs. Bethe Correia (9-2) in a women’s bantamweight bout closes the preliminary card on Fox Sports 1.
Nik Lentz (26-7-2, 1NC) vs. Michael McBride (8-1) is next in a lightweight bout.
Brad Tavares (13-4) vs. Caio Magalhaes (9-2) is next in a middleweight bout.
Drew Dober (17-7, 1NC) vs. Jason Gonzalez (10-3) in a lightweight bout opened the Fox Sports 1 preliminary bouts. This one did not last long at all. Dober swarms with him strikes and Gonzalez falls back towards the cage. Dober finished him on the ground with strikes.
Opening the UFC 203 Fight Pass prelims was Yancy Medeiros (13-4, 1NC) vs. Sean Spencer (12-6) in a welterweight bout. This one landed with a thud. In round 1, both guys were conservative and had a feeling out process in the early going. Spencer was mixing up his kicks as well. Spencer had success ducking in and finding the overhand right. They close in, and Spencer tagged him. Spencer slipped, and Medeiros landed some jabs. Medeiros told him to bring it on as his held up his hands. They were trashing talking towards the end of the round. In round 2, Medeiros landed a head kick that dropped Spencer early in the round then swarmed him on the ground with strikes. Medeiros got his back and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win.
Here are the quick results:
Drew Dober def. Jason Gonzalez via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 1:45
Yancy Medeiros def. Sean Spencer by submission (rear-naked choke) at :39 of Round 2
