Max Holloway may not have gotten the fight he wanted against Jose Aldo, but the Hawaiian-born fighter was “Blessed” with another interesting showdown when he was booked to face off against Anthony Pettis at UFC 206 on Dec. 10, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

And Max, for one, is just as excited to face “Showtime,” as he knows he will be getting a hungry former champion who also likes to stand-and-bang, preferring to let the action play out on the feet. And it’s because of that very fact that Max feels fight fans will be able to see what all he is capable of.

He breaks it down to Flo Combat:

“I’m beyond stoked for this fight. Anthony Pettis is a former champion, and I can’t wait to go out there and take one more step toward greatness. I can’t wait to show them one more example of who Max Holloway is, and that’s the best fighter in the world. Pettis does what I like to do and that’s striking. People need to tune in on Dec. 10 on pay-per-view, because Pettis and I are going to throw these hands and feet, and it’s going to be one you won’t want to miss. It’s the Hawaiian versus the Puerto Rican, and both cultures are known for producing great fighters. It’s going to be a great night. I’m so excited I finally get to be in there with someone who will be willing to stand and trade with me. Pettis is a former champion, and I have nothing but respect for him, but when those cage doors close he’s going to see what Max Holloway brings to the table.”

Pettis is fresh of third round submission victory over Charles Oliveira at UFC on FOX 21, which marked his successful debut at Featherweight. The victory also stopped the bleeding of a three-fight skid at 155 pounds. As for Holloway, he is currently riding a nine-fight win streak that dates back all the way to early 2014.

That said, Holloway say his streak now means nothing, as he is looking at his fight against Pettis as an effort to go 1-0.

UFC 206 will feature a light heavyweight title fight as Daniel Cormier meets Anthony Johnson for a second time in the headlining bout. To learn more about the upcoming Holloway vs. Pettis showdown, as well as the rest of the UFC 206 fight card click here and here.
