In just one week, current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight king Daniel Cormier will put his 205-pound belt on the line for just the second time when he meets Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 on April 8 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The two first fought for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 187, which saw “DC” squash “Rumble” to the tune of a third-round submission.
As an appetizer to their impending rematch at UFC 210, the promotion has opened up its vault and relinquished one of Cormier’s most memorable Octagon performances to date. In the above video courtesy of UFC, Cormier can be seen manhandling mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Dan Henderson. Cormier not only lifted “Hendo” up and slammed him down like a football spiked by Rob Gronkowski, but he dismantled the veteran on the ground with a third-round guillotine choke finish. It was just the second appearance for Cormier at 205 pounds and undeniable proof that his power as a former heavyweight remains his strong suit at light heavyweight.
If Cormier can defeat “Rumble” again at UFC 210 he’ll have the privilege of welcoming former champion Jon Jones back to the cage. He’ll have to fight through unflappable punching power and scary athletic ability to do so, but “DC” is primed for another remarkable title fight performance.
That’s unless Johnson can connect early and send the 38-year-old back to the FOX desk.
