Cris Cyborg defended her Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s Featherweight title for the first time last night (Sat., Dec. 30, 2017) at UFC 219 against Holly Holm in what proved to be Cris’s toughest fight to date.
Indeed, “The Preacher’s Daughter” took Cris to deep waters, going all five rounds with the most dominant female fighter of our time, getting a few licks in on Cyborg in the process.
But after scoring a win over Holly — and Ronda Rousey, apparently — Cris is running out of options in a hurry. That’s because the women’s 145-pound division is non-existent, as 135-pound fighters have had to move up to face Cris.
Case in point, current Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes has already offered her services to move up in weight to challenge Cris. And while Cyborg would accept the bout — albeit with some resistance — she would rather face a true Featherweight like Megan Anderson.
And that is really the fight to make, as Anderson is the current division queen over at Inivcta FC. The two were set to tango at UFC 214 before Anderson was forced out of the fight, but now that she has her ducks in a row, Megan wants Cyborg inside the Octagon.

For Cyborg, defeating Holm solidifies her as the best female fighter in the history of the sport, despite the fact that a fight against former 135-pound champion Ronda Rousey never saw the light of day.
