I really should have learned not to put my faith in Felipe Arantes by now. At least he retired, thus keeping me from making an ass of myself again. Not that I won’t find a way to do so without his help, but at least this cuts off one avenue.

Thoughts: The meat of UFC 226’s bargains are on the main card, but there’s still some profit to be found, namely in Jamie Moyle. Indeed, Emily Whitmire has yet to beat a competent opponent in the professional ranks and even a four-inch height advantage isn’t enough to convince me that she has anything for Moyle. The latter’s wrestling and striking aren’t up to snuff and — considering she fought at 115 pounds before her The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) bid — I doubt Whitmire’s time at 125 pounds will prove a deciding factor.

Thoughts: The fact that my “Prelims” undercard pick percentage far outstrips my betting percentage suggests that my best course of action is to have faith in my pics. As such, my recommendation is to put everything on Max Holloway.
When I see Holloway, I see a dynasty in the making. He is a truly special fighter, one whom I see dominating the Featherweight rankings before carving a legacy at Lightweight. As good as Brian Ortega is, none of his customary strategies look fit to work here — Holloway does not get tired, does not surrender takedowns, and is clever enough to avoid the protracted clinch engagements that Ortega thrives in. For all I’ve lost betting against Ortega in the past, my faith in Holloway outstrips my shame.
Other than that, I’ll repeat my bet on Michael Chiesa that Conor McGregor’s dolly shenanigans disrupted last time out. Anthony Pettis is a solved game at this point and Chiesa’s durability and wrestling present a challenge I’m not convinced he can overcome.
