Darren Till will get his opportunity to hoist UFC gold when he takes on current welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 228 on Sept. 8 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Undefeated at 17-0-1, Till has quickly turned into one of the most exciting contenders to come through the 170-pound division in recent memory. His big frame and high-level striking skills should be able to give Woodley trouble, while the champion tries to leverage his wrestling skills to control the bout and lock down his third-straight title defense.
In preparation for Till’s upcoming title shot at UFC 228, the promotion has opened up its vault and released a free full fight video of Till’s destruction of Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118 (shown above courtesy of UFC).
The fight took place last October in Poland and featured a much bigger Till having his way with “Cowboy” on the feet. It only took a few good shots for Cerrone to feel the power of the Englishman. Till poured the pressure on and eventually stopped the UFC veteran via TKO (punches) with one minute remaining in the very first round. It was Till’s second UFC finish and his most dominant Octagon performance to date.
Only time will tell if Till can have this sort of success against a well-rounded champion like Woodley. But if he’s able to keep his distance and use his strikes to dictate the pace of action, “Gorilla” may be able to capture UFC gold next weekend in Dallas.
