Plenty of fighters voiced their displeasure of having to move all of their belongings, families and teams from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Inglewood, Calif. (details), after an abnormality was found in Jon Jones’ drug test. As a result of the finding, Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) could not formally approve “Bones” a license to fight given the unforeseen circumstances, which just so happened to occur during a holiday break.

It’s better than the alternative, I suppose.

But, according to MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi, there is a silver lining to all of this mess, as all of the combatants competing at the UFC 232 pay-per-view (PPV) event will now have an extra hour to weigh in on Friday (Dec. 28, 2018).

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) is extending the weigh-in window from two hours to three hours due to the short-notice change in location of the event from Las Vegas to Inglewood, Calif., per CSAC executive officer Andy Foster. The official weigh-ins will now run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time.

Furthermore, all of the licensing processes will take place on Friday morning during the weigh-ins as opposed to Thursday night. Every bit helps.

According to the report, most fighters competing at the event are still in “Sin City” and will be flown to California Thursday morning by UFC officials. Still, despite the one hour allowance, having to travel on the day the fighters are supposed to be solely focusing on cutting weight is a major inconvenience.

Not to mention the lighter paychecks they will now be getting.

Still, you can bet Dana White and Co. will be bombarded with endless questions regarding the entire catastrophic mess during tomorrow’s (Thurs., Dec. 27, 2018) pre-fight presser. Let’s just hope he has better answers than “it is what it is.”
