UFC 234 is all set to go down on Saturday February 9 inside Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia in what will mark Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) first pay-per-view (PPV) offering of the new year.
The event will be headlined a Middleweight title fight between Robert Whittaker and former Welterweight, Kelvin Gastelum. UFC’s latest promo video, though, highlights the co-main event between former 185-pound kingpin Anderson Silva facing off against Israel Adesanya.
Much has been made of this intriguing matchup, as it could very well signal the passing of the torch form one of the greatest to ever do it to a fast-rising contender who many feel is his clone.
Admittedly, Adesanya has revealed Silva was one of his idols growing up and showed him that you don’t have to be a jacked-up monster in order to kick ass inside the Octagon. On the verge of superstardom, “The last Stylebender” will now stand across the cage from the man he once idolized.
