Headlining UFC 239 was light heavyweight champ Jon Jones taking on Thiago Santos. It was a nice night filled with crazy finishes, but in the end, this ended up with a split decision in a competitive match up. Santos had his moments, especially in the first two rounds, but his knee was obviously compromised from the first round up until the end of the title bout.

Round 5 – Body kick from Santos and he changes stances briefly. Inside leg kick. Jones misses with a head kick. Santos lands two overhand rights in a row! Jones with an outside leg kick. Side kick from Jones. Jones catches Santos advancing, and presses with oblique kicks. Santoss with a body kick. Oblique. A lull in action. Jones jumps but gets punched for his efforts. No urgency here from the champ. Front kick is caught and Jones is thrown off balance. Then Santos throws a kic and is dumped off balance himself. 10-9 Santos, but 48-47 Jones.
