Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor is just one week away from his long-awaited return to action, as “Notorious” will meet Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 live on ESPN+ PPV from Las Vegas, Nevada, with the bout being contested at 170 pounds.
Hate it or love it, McGregor’s comeback fight will be a massive event to say the least. Despite his recent absence from the Octagon, the Irish superstar remains the most popular, controversial, and profitable fighter on the UFC roster. So even though McGregor hasn’t won since knocking out Eddie Alvarez back in 2016 he still holds most of the cards here in 2020.
In advance to McGregor’s awaited clash with “Cowboy” next weekend in Vegas, UFC has released a full fight breakdown for the welterweight matchup. The video can be seen above in its entirety.
As the betting favorite entering the fight, McGregor will look to utilize his range control, footwork, hand speed, and powerful left hand to supplant Cerrone in fashion. The Irish striker will also look to put the heat on early as “Cowboy” is historically a late starter.
For Cerrone, he’ll look to survive early pressure from McGregor in order to find his rhythm on the feet in the middle rounds and land his patented kicks and long strikes. While “Cowboy” has expressed his willingness to strike with McGregor in the interest of the fans, the savvy veteran also has a world-class submission game to fall back on should he take too much damage from “Notorious.”
It will be one hell of a showdown to say the least and one of the most important fights of 2020.
What say you, Maniacs? Who has the advantage one week out from UFC 246?
