In the main event of UFC 246 Conor McGregor made quick work of Donald Cerrone in his UFC return.

Conor McGregor returned to the win column by knocking out Donald Cerrone in just 40-seconds in the main event of UFC 246.

What was the high point of the fight?

Both men met in the middle of the octagon and began to exchange strikes. As Cerrone slipped a left hand from McGregor, he got hit by a trailing knee from the Irishman, followed by shoulder strikes.

A big head kick from McGregor rocked Cerrone and ‘Cowboy’ began to cover up with his back against the fence. Trying his best to defend himself whilst on the canvas, McGregor continued to land ground and pound and referee Herb Dean stopped the fight in just 40-seconds.

Where do they go from here?

This type of win is exactly what McGregor needed. To beat Cerrone in such flawless fashion makes a statement to the lightweight, and welterweight, roster of just how good McGregor is. In his post-fight interview, McGregor said he would like to stay at 170-pounds for his next fight, so maybe fights with either Jorge Masvidal or Kamaru Usman make sense next.

Cerrone is now without a win in three fights. It’s a extremely disappointing loss for ‘Cowboy’, and realistically, Cerrone isn’t in a place to pick and chose opponents now. Who he fights is a case of whether he stays at welterweight or goes back down to lightweight next.
