The UFC’s return to action was a memorable one last night (Sat., May 9, 2020) at UFC 249 live on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., as Justin Gaethje scored a main event TKO win to end Tony Ferguson’s 12-fight lightweight win streak (see it HERE). “Highlight” also took home the interim 155-pound strap.
In addition to Gaethje’s best Octagon performance to date, UFC 249 saw bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo defeat Dominick Cruz via second-round TKO before surprisingly announcing his retirement from the sport. The main card also saw heavy-handed superstar Francis Ngannou steamroll Jairzinho Rozenstruik with a 20-second knockout, all but locking up his second UFC heavyweight title shot.
