Fight fans can now take a behind-the-scenes look at Conor McGregor’s recent TKO loss to Dustin Poirier as the promotion released its patented UFC 257: ‘The Thrill and the Agony’ video on Friday.
UFC 257, which took place last weekend live on ESPN+ PPV from “Fight Island,” was headlined by a massive rematch between McGregor and Poirier. The lightweight main event ended early as Poirier clobbered “Notorious” via second-round TKO, but the PPV card was still a smashing success. According to early reports, UFC 257 cleared 1.6 million PPV buys without problem.
It was a massive success for Poirier to say the least. Not only did “Diamond” avenge a previous loss to McGregor, but he did so in front of millions of fans. Poirier also locked down the next shot at the undisputed UFC lightweight title (whenever that may happen). In addition, he scored the biggest payday of his career and also had McGregor kindly donate $500,000 to his Good Fight Foundation.
Following the fight, Poirier’s wife, Jolie, searched for McGregor backstage. She was able to gain access to the Irishman’s locker room to pay her respects for the fight and personally thank “Notorious” for his generous donation to the Good Fight Foundation. The footage can be seen above in UFC 257’s “The Thrill and the Agony” video.
