Watch the first fight between flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and No. 1 contender Brandon Moreno before their rematch at UFC 263.

Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno will be meeting again soon, so now is a good time to rewatch their first fight. The flyweight champion and No. 1 contender engaged in a stunning back-and-forth affair that was immediately dubbed a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate by the end of their outing at UFC 256 in December of last year.

Figueiredo and Moreno had their moments in the fight, with both men landing shots that clearly wobbled one other. In the end, the fight was declared a majority draw and the champion retained his title. Figueiredo was deducted one point in the third round after he threw an illegal groin strike to Moreno.

Because of the result, it was made clear by all parties involved that Figueiredo and Moreno should — and would — rematch in the future. The rematch was made quickly and will now happen just six months later as the co-main event of UFC 263 in Arizona.

Figueiredo and Moreno have spoken about what they intend on doing differently in the rematch, but both men have the same goal. They are looking for a finish, and since we have seen they have the capability of producing one, that could very well happen when they share the Octagon for the second time.

UFC 263 is headlined by a middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori. Like the co-main event between Figueiredo and Moreno, this fight is also a rematch. Another five-round featured fight is a welterweight one between Leon Edwards and the returning Nate Diaz.
