UFC 264 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the sixth and final episode for this weekend’s huge show in Arizona, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the card.
We start off at the press conference. Conor McGregor spends a few minutes trying to posture while Dustin Poirier tells Dana White to keep him away from him. Conor interrupts everything Dustin says with the same tired insults. His chirp game has not evolved. Conor throws a kick at the face-off but it lands on Dana. He laughs it off, much like Dustin did the whole time.
Gilbert Burns is cutting weight and says he’s ahead of the game. Stephen Thompson says he’s gonna drink a big glass of wine after the fight, and even could before if he wanted to. He’s no Paulo Costa. That was funny.
Weigh-ins. Everyone’s on. As Conor is exiting, he runs into Rafael dos Anjos, who made weight as the backup for this fight. He chirps a bit and Dos Anjos gives it right back, telling him exactly what he thinks of The Notorious One. Conor has to be held back, but it seems like it was weak at best. Advantage RDA. Dos Anjos wants to fight him right there, he don’t care.
Ceremonial weigh-ins. Wonderboy and Durinho are intense but respectful, as always. Conor is wearing zero Venum gear, repping his own stuff. Poirier is cool as a cucumber. Conor tries his usual mind games but Poirier just patiently stands there, oblivious. The best way to be. IT’S ON!
