In the co-main event slot, former UFC welterweight title contenders Gilbert Burns and Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson faced off. It was an intriguing bout stylistically, and one that also had title implications. It was a close back and forth fight, but Burns did enough to win a hard fought decision.

Thompson with a sweeping head kick. Wonderboy asserting himself early. Thompson with a left and a head kick. Wonderboy with a spinning wheel kick that stuns Burns! Burns jumps back and hurts Thompson! Whoa! Burns looks for a takedown, and eventually gets it. Thompson is flat on his back with Burns in side landing rib punches. Burns advances to mount and threatens with a guillotine. Burns lands a bunch of hammerfists to the back of the head that the ref ignores. 10-9 and 30-27 Burns.
