Hard to believe that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is less than a month away from its upcoming UFC on ESPN 6 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, scheduled for a rare Friday night appearance on Oct. 18, 2019 inside TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

The recently-released event poster features the light heavyweight main event, as Chris Weidman makes the jump up to 205 pounds to battle undefeated division contender Dominick Reyes, who’s confident a win over “All American” secures him a title shot.

Weidman (14-4) is hoping to leave his troubles behind as he enters his new weight class. Once considered the best middleweight in the world — and one of the top pound-for-pound fighters alive — the 35 year-old ex-champion is just 1-4 dating back to 2015 with four knockout losses.

Getting finished in “Beantown” would be devastating for his career.

As for Reyes (11-0), he’s quietly sliced through the 205-pound division after making his Octagon debut in summer 2017. That said, his performance in a split decision win over former title contender, Volkan Oezdemir, had many UFC fans pumping the brakes on his rapid race to the division strap.

This bout will tell us a lot about the future of each combatant.

UFC on ESPN 6 will also feature the heavyweight return of controversial bruiser Greg Hardy, who meets fellow “Contender Series” import Ben Sosoli. Elsewhere on the card, Zabit Magomedsharipov and Calvin Kattar collide in featherweight action, while Joe Lauzon keeps the hometown crowd entertained opposite Jonathan Pearce.
