Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are back to breakdown this Saturday’s, October 10th., UFC FIGHT ISLAND 6: ‘ORTEGA VS. KOREAN ZOMBIE’. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event.

Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are back to breakdown the UFC FIGHT ISLAND 6 event, which was broadcast from The Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE — aka: #UFCFIGHTISLAND. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event in the player above or on our Bloody Elbow Presents YouTube Channel and BE Presents Podcast Network. (SPOILERS…)

Overall, this eleven-bout card saw three swift finishes in Round 1, no submissions, but a total of four KO/TKOs, and seven decisions – one Split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Jimmy Crute and Jessica Andrade; and FOTN honors went to Mateusz Gamrot vs. Guram Kutateladze. Wow, what a night of fights we have to discuss with you!

Tonight’s card showcased a heavily-anticipated featherweight main event battle for the chance at title shot against Aleksandar Volkanovski. It was between the #2 ranked Californian, “T-City” Brian Ortega, who was returning off a long break after a Dr. Stoppage which was caused by Max Holloway way back at UFC 231 in Dec., 2018; tonight he was brawling with the #4 ranked, Chan Sung Jung ‘The Korean Zombie’, who entered the octagon on a two-fight win streak, with the most performance bonuses in UFC history in his favor. Ortega had been back in the lab all that time, training hard to transform himself into a new and improved version of himself; he achieved his goal, defeating the Zombie via a solid and unarguable Unanimous Decision, with some impressive moments throughout the five-bout fight.

Also on the card, a co-main event at strawweight, also meant to determine who gets a shot at the title, between the vicious dynamo, Jéssica ‘Bate Estaca, aka: Pile Driver’ Andrade, who moved up in weight to stop the UFC’s #1 ranked women’s flyweight; Katlyn ‘Blonde Fighter’ Chookagian. Andrade was coming off of two losses to Rosa Namajunas and Weili Zhang, while Katlyn had just been victorious up against Antonina Shevchenko on May 30th. of this year. Regardless of those fight records, Andrade would make quick work of the clash and bring an end to the bout after only 4:55 of Round 1, with brutal body hooks to her opponent, dropping her defenseless to her knees.

As if that’s not enough action, we opened the night with an exciting fifty-one second knockout dealt to Mark Striegl by Said Nurmagomedov; which was followed up by another first-round knockout later on the main card, when Jimmy Crute punched out Modestas Bukauskas in just two-minutes and one-second. We would get to enjoy all of this and more on this card tonight; join us to discuss all the action…
