Brian Ortega just dominated “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung on the feet in the UFC Fight Island 6 main event.

The UFC Fight Island 6 main event was the setting where the promotion’s #2 ranked featherweight, Brian Ortega, out-strike the #4 ranked, Chan Sung Jung, for five-rounds to win a unanimous decision. Ortega looked great on the feet, dropping “The Korean Zombie” several times en route to his dominant win. Looks like Ortega will be getting the next shot at Alexander Volkanovski’s featherweight title.

Getting the fight going, the fighters came out exchanging low kicks and measuring one another. Both men were quite patient. Ortega landed a couple of overhand lefts, one of which dropped Zombie. Ortega allowed his opponent to stand up, and Zombie started to throw back, but not nearly enough to win back the round.

Zombie started the second round with a bit more urgency, backing up Ortega with his punches. Ortega showed a takedown attempt, but Zombie was having none of it. Zombie got back to pressing the action, but a spinning elbow from Ortega dropped him. Ortega then hit a body lock takedown to finish the round in the dominant position.

The third act got off to a bit of a slow start, with neither man forcing anything. Zombie was pressing forward, but Ortega was doing a great job of mixing things up. Ortega was throwing a lot of different techniques, from boxing combos to leg kicks. Zombie just couldn’t get anything going.

Ortega went for a takedown and added in a right hand that hit flush before completing the takedown. Zombie came up with a cut around his left eye, causing the doctor to come in and take a look. The doctor allowed the fight to continue, and Ortega went right back to work.

Ortega continued to land his strikes in the final frame, staying active with his footwork and countering his advancing opponent. Zombie just couldn’t put anything together. He was coming forward, but just couldn’t track down his target long enough to land a fight-ending blow.

Brian Ortega def. Chan Sung Jung by unanimous decision (50-45 x3): Featherweight
