Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will return to Singapore on Saturday (June 17, 2017), when the UFC Fight Night 111 mixed martial arts (MMA) event comes to Singapore Indoor Stadium on the UFC Fight Pass digital network.
Headlining the overseas event will be former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm, as she takes on ex-division No. 1 contender Bethe Correia. Elsewhere on the card, former lightweight titleholder Rafael dos Anjos tries his luck at welterweight against ex-Strikeforce 170-pound champion Tarec Saffiedine.
That’s not all.
Former UFC heavyweight kingpin Andrei Arlovski looks to maintain his spot on the 265-pound roster opposite Polish power puncher Marcin Tybura, not long after ex-PRIDE lightweight straphanger Takanori Gomi collides with the venerable Jon Tuck.

Tybura landing the occasional shot, but struggling to posture out of Arlovski’s grip. Two minutes in. Now the heavier shots are coming and Arlovski gives up his back. Arlovski turns and Tybura pounds away from full mount. Two minutes to go.

Round 1: Covington slips on a head kick and Kim pursues. Kim tries a foot sweet, Covington counters with a takedown. Kim uses the cage to stand, Covington still staying heavy. One minute in. Kim tries a throw, can’t lift him. Covington working hard to try to drag Kim down from the rear waistlock. Kim catches a kick, can’t use it. Nice trip by Covington puts Kim back on his rear. Good elbow by Kim as he stands. Two minutes to go.
Hard elbows and some knees from Covington against the cage. Kim struggling to get his back off the cage, eats a spinning elbow on the break with a minute to go. Kim marching forward, lands a straight left. 1-2 from Covington. Good knee by Kim and Covington scores another takedown on the fence. 10-9 Covington.
Round 2: Kim continues his advance, eats some leg kicks. Straight left lands for Kim. Covington shoots, sprawled on. Kim whacking at his body from that position. Covington gets his feet under him and shoots again, putting him on the fence. One minute in. Another takedown on the cage. Kim working to stand two minutes in. Crowd is not happy. Kim makes it up and Covington knees his thighs. Kim briefly reverses and separates with two minutes to go.

Round 3: Kim still pressing forward, but it’s Covington landing the better punches. One minute in. Low kick lands for Covington, but Kim lances him with a good straight left. Covington continuing to find the mark, landing good right hooks. Nice knee tap by Covington for yet another takedown two minutes in. Kim works his way up and Covington goes back to the knees. Failed takedown attempt, then one that doesn’t fail with two minutes to go.

Round 1: RDA advancing, takes a head kick. Body kick and straight left land for him. Right hand from Saffiedine and a hard leg kick, after which he catches Dos Anjos’ and takes him down into half guard. One minute in. Dos Anjos locks up a Kimura, doesn’t have enough body control. Deep half guard, back to his knees, now his feet two minutes in. Saffiedine lands a knee and elbow, more knees to the body on the fence. Good elbow on the break. Dos Anjos pressuring. Right hand from Saffiedine, body shots and straight lefts by RDA. Two minutes to go.
Knees from both men. Dos Anjos changes levels for a double-leg. Saffiedine threatening an armbar, somewhat stymied by the fence. Dos Anjos grabs a keylock and loses it as Saffiedine stands. Jabs by RDA, Saffiedine clinches and knees the body. RDA with some knees of his own. Saffiedine looking for a single-leg, RDA snaps him down two minutes in. Knees to the body from RDA, including one illegal one to the head. RDA going to work with knees to the body as Saffiedine stands. He changes levels again with two minutes to go.

Round 3: RDA opens with a body kick, eats a leg kick. Body kick and straight left. 1-3 from Saffiedine and a head kick attempt. Right hook connects, answered by a leg kick. One minute in. Lead left from RDA. Leg kick by Saffiedine. RDA with a right hook as they continue the jab battle. Both touch the body. Knees downstairs from both two minutes in. Round 1: Front kick lands for Tuck early on, then another one to the body that hurts Gomi. Tuck jumps on him, landing right hands, and takes the back. Tuck quickly locks up the rear naked choke for the finish.

265 lbs.: Cyril Asker vs. Walt Harris
Round 1: Harris opens with a hard body kick. Counter right by Asker. Another counter right appears to buzz Harris. One minute in. Asker tries to catch a body kick, eats a 3-2. Another 3-2 drops Asker and Harris tries to pound away in guard. Savage punches and elbows and finally the ref steps in.
Final result: Harris def. Asker by TKO (punches and elbows)
145 lbs.: Alex Caceres vs. Rolando Dy
Round 1: Dy sends out a head kick to start, eats a body kick. Another one connects for Caceres and he glides away from a left hook. Good combination from the American. One minute in. Dy shoots, stuffed, eats a right hand and a 1-2-3 on the break. Caceres opens up with punches on the fence. Body shot connects. Dy not offering much in return, does hurl a body kick around two minutes in. Head kick lands for Cacares and a savage 1-2 drops Dy. Brutal combinations when he stands. Another 1-2 plugs Dy as the latter throws a kick. Dy ties up, but Caceres threatens a guillotine and then spins to the back. Two minutes to go.
Caceres alternating between punches and choke attempts .Full boy triangle. Dy manages to scramble up, eats a knee after the scramble. They separate with less than a minute to go. 1-2 from Caceres. Body kick. Counter right, Dy grabs the waistlock in return. Caceres denies a takedoown and lands a hard right hand. 10-8 Caceres.
Round 2: Body kick from Dy. Another straight left from Caceres. Dy’s right eye is damaged. Hard body kick from Dy. Ref pauses the fight to look at Dy’s eye. Dy elects to continue. Caceres tearing into him with combination punching, lands a spinning back kick. Dy throwing back. Caceres fires a wheel kick and Dy takes him down, going full human backpack as he stands. Caceres shucks him off, Dy still attached. Two minutes in. Knee from Caceres. They separate. Counter left from Dy. Right hook from Caceres. Two minutes to go.
Low-high goes Caceres. Dy with a left hand and leg kicks. Left hands from Caceres and he ties up on the fence. One minute to go. Knee from Caceres and they separate. Dy right hand. Both land near the fence. Man, Dy may have won this round. 10-9 Dy.
The doctor confirms that Dy can see, but admits that Dy continues closing his eye and the ref calls it. Dy is heartbroken.
Final result: Caceres def. Dy by TKO (injury)
125 lbs.: Ulka Sasaki vs. Justin Scoggins
Round 1: Scoggins immediately charges in and suplexes Sasaki on his head. Sasaki pops back up, eats a straight left. Scoggins ties up on the fence, but it’s Sasaki tripping him to the mat Scoggins pops up, threatens to take the back. Sasaki ducks in for a single-leg and avoids an attempted back take. Scoggins slips out and lands some good right hands. Two minutes in. 2-3 as they separate, Scoggins tries another trip. Spinning back kick, right body kick at range. More body kicks of various stripes. Two minutes to go.
Sneaky left on the pivot by Scoggins and another straight left. Wheel kick misses, southpaw 1-2 does not for Scoggins and Sasaki goes down. It’s not a super hard knockdown and he manages to lock up his guard when Scoggins follows. Ground-and-pound from “Tank.” Solid work, pressing Sasaki against the fence. 10-9 Scoggins.
Round 2: Spinning back kick knocks Sasaki over and Scoggins lands in guard once more. Hard shots from half guard now. Sasaki regains guard and latches onto an overhook. One minute in. Thumping elbows from the top by Scoggins. Good left hand by Scoggins two minutes in. Sasaki looking for deep half guard, goes to his knees. Scoggins looks for the back and Sasaki looks for a leg before desperately chasing him. Nice sweep by Sasaki and suddenly he has the back with two minutes to go.
Sasaki clamps down and draws the tap. Impressive finish by “Ulka.”

170 lbs.: Frank Camacho vs. Li Jingliang
Round 1: Camacho whiffs on an early right hand. He doesn’t whiff on the next one, which rocks Li. Both men swinging with furious abandon. Huge shots from Camacho. Counter 3-2 by Li. Counter right, hard left hook from Camacho. They tie up and Camacho lands an elbow. Li looks for a takedown, but Camacho uses a foot sweep to take him down into half guard. Li uses a knee shield and Camacho waves him up. Two minutes to go.
Low kicks from Li. 3-2 rocks Li again, Li answers with a knee to the body. Big left hook by Li in return. More low kicks. Li shoots, slams Camacho to the mat from the waistlock. Camacho pops back up with a minute to go. Li muscles him down again, then again and he locks up a no-hooks choke in the waning seconds that he can’t finish. 10-9 Camacho.
Round 2: Li staying busy with the low kicks. Quick punching exchange. He shoots, in on a single-leg, can’t get it. Li keeps driving as Camacho defends. One minute in and they separate. Jabs from Li. Two minutes in. Camacho’s got his mouth open, next right hand doesn’t have much pepper behind it. More leg kicks and jabs by Li. Flurry from Camacho on the fence. Two minutes to go.
3-2 from Camacho. More jabs by Li to the head and body, then a lead right hand that draws a nod. More leg kicks, Camacho comes back with another flurry with a minute to go. Uppercut from Li and he’s on the attack. Li looks for a single-leg, drops it after eating a Browne elbow. 10-9 Li.
Round 3: Li definitely the fresher of the two. Camacho with a flurry, catches a leg kick. Nice body shot lands for him. One minute in. Lead right from Li and another set of low kicks. More jabs by The Leech. Two minutes in. Left hook, uppercut, another leg kick. Combination capped off by a right hand. Camacho offers a war cry after another leg kick connects. Thumping right hand by Li and another as Camacho bellows. Another right hand. Overhand lefts. Li teeing off on him with two minutes to go.
Camacho hobbled, still chasing him. Another leg kick. More right hands and another leg kick by Li. These are brutal with a minute to go. Li firing his jab, right hand behind it. Another low kick buckles Camacho before the bell. 10-8 Li.

135 lbs.: Russell Doane vs. Kwan Ho Kwak
Round 1: Hard leg kick by Kwak in the early going. Kwak catches a leg kick and takes Doane down. Doane looks for upkicks, shoots, and disengages. One minute in. Right hand from Doane, Kwak tries to answer in kind. Leg kick by Kwak, counter left by Doane. Two minutes in. Both fall short with kicks. Left hook from Kwak on the counter, Doane tries to spin. Two minutes to go.
Kwak with a pair of counter rights. Body kick connects. Doane lands a leg kick, just misses to the head and connects with huge shots on the fence. Suddenly, a right hand flattens Kwak and Doane pours on the hurt until the ref steps in.

125 lbs.: Carls John de Tomas vs. Naoki Inoue
Round 1: de Tomas sends out a head kick and they trade punches. Right hand by Inoue, then on the counter as de Tomas blasts him with an overhand left. de Tomas shoots and slams Inoue to the mat a minute in. Inoue scrambles up and presses him against the fence, trading knees. Hard knees to the thighs and de Tomas tries to shoot. Inoue sprawls and a lovely scramble ensues. Full back control for Inoue two minutes in. Inoue looking for the choke as de Tomas tries to whack him. Two minutes to go.
de Tomas spins into top position, avoiding an armbar as he does. Inoue gets to his feet and sprawls on another takedown to land in side control. Inoue looking to pass, threatening the cattle catch neck crank, can’t make it. de Tomas regains guard. 10-9 Inoue.
Round 2: They trade body kicks and Inoue lands another right hand. Leg kicks land. de Tomas looks a bit tired. One minute in. Cuffing right hand from de Tomas backs Inoue off. Counter left from de Tomas, more jabs by Inoue and a thumping leg kick. de Tomas with another counter left, cracked by a right to the jaw two minutes in. Leg kicks from both. Good punches by Inoue on the inside. Counter rights and he sprawls on a shot with two minutes to go.
Inoue easily spins to the back and slams home punches until de Tomas gives him an opening. He threatens a choke, armbar, back to the choke, armbar, then a locked-in triangle. de Tomas slips out, gives up the back again. Inoue tries a no-hooks choke, locks up the armbar but can’t quite finish before the bell. 10-9 Inoue.
Round 3: Inoue back in the advance, lands right hands but can’t get his hands on a leg. Right hand again, counter left by de Tomas. Inoue shoots, eats some savage elbows from de Tomas before bailing a little ovre a minute in. He threatens a guillotine, then scrambles for another armbar attempt. He gets the back two minutes in. Hammerfists, then back to looking for the choke. Two minutes to go.
de Tomas scrambles, looks to shoot in. Suddenly it’s de Tomas on the back, but Inoue turns into guard with a minute to go. Elbows from Inoue. 10-9 Inoue.
Final result: Inoue def. de Tomas by unanimous decision
135 lbs.: Ji Yeon Kim vs. Lucie Pudilova
Round 1: Kim slinging right hands, Pudilova working behind her jab. Both send out low kicks. Good punching exchanges in the first minute. Counter rights from Kim, Pudilova comes right back at her behind the jab. More jabs. Two minutes in. Kim flurrying, but continues to eat the jab. Two minutes to go.
Big right hand by Kim, now on the advance. 1-2 by Pudilova. Now they’re exchanging full combos with a minute to go. Glancing head kick by Kim and they clinch. Superman punch and left hook by Pudilova. 10-9 Pudilova on the strength of her jab.
Round 2: Pudilova continues sending out her jab, eats an elbow. Kim leg kicks. One minute in. Counter right by Kim lands well. Low kick and a heavy punching combination. Kim’s getting pumped. Right hand lands and Pudilova ties up. Two minutes in. Kim has double underhooks. Good knee. Pudilova keeping her against the cage, ref breaks them up with two minutes to go.
Nice uppercut from Kim. Back to the jab for Pudilova. One minute to go. Kim cracks her with right hands. and Pudilova ties up. 10-9 Kim.
Round 3: Pudilova ties up right away and lands an elbow. Knee to the body. One minute in. Knee from Kim, ref separates them. Good right hand lands for Kim. Pudilova pushes in behind 1-2s and clinches again. Kim tries a sneaky trip, but Pudilova threatens a guillotine. Pudilova gets a better grip and Kim goes to her knees, ultimately surrendering half guard. Two minutes to go.
Pudilova surrenders guard to squeeze, but the right side of Kim’s neck is totally free and she pops out. Pudilova makes space to stand, eats a right hand once she does. Kim grabs double underhooks, Pudilova tries another guillotine and lands a pair of knees. Those guillotines were hopeless, but she was in control long enough to make it 10-9 Pudilova.
