UFC Fight Night 83, which took place from Pittsburgh, PA, started slow on Sunday night, but things heated up as the event went on, especially on the six-fight main card. In the main event, UFC lightweight contender Donald Cerrone successfully debuted in the welterweight division with a slick first-round submission over Alex Oliveira.

The card was full of bizarre officiating, including controversial decisions and early stand-ups. Nevertheless, UFC Fight Night 83 still featured a few fantastic fights and a handful of other finishes, including Derek Brunson’s mauling of Roan Carneiro in the co-feature.

Following the event, UFC officials gave out four post-fight bonuses worth $50,000 each.

Donald Cerrone: Cowboy got back into the winning column in his 170-pound debut following a disappointing loss to UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos this past December. After trading with Oliveira on the feet for a few moments, he secured a takedown and locked up a very impressive triangle choke from the mount position. Cerrone’s the first fighter to take home an extra paycheck for Performance of the Night.

Chris Camozzi: Middleweight fighter Camozzi picked up a thrilling first-round knockout over veteran Joe Riggs. He very quickly got “Diesel” in the clinch and landed thunderous knees until Riggs dropped unconscious, breaking his forearm in the process. Camozzi was the other fighter to earn $50,000 for Performance of the Night.

Lauren Murphy vs. Kelly Faszholz: Rather surprisingly, a UFC Fight Pass prelim took home Fight of the Night honors — a women’s bantamweight clash between Murphy and Faszholz. Faszholz looked good early, landing hard shots, but the more experienced Murphy took control in the later rounds with a mix of strikes and takedowns. All around, Murphy vs. Faszholz was a fantastic fight and deserved a bonus.
