Thoughts: I’m thinking underdogs this time around; more specifically, Rin Nakai and Ross Pearson.
Nakai is definitely a limited fighter — she’s undersized for Bantamweight and a non-factor on the feet. The thing is, despite her height, Smith isn’t that big, either — she fought at 125 pounds in Invicta before joining UFC. Further, she’s not a good ring cutter and doesn’t use her height very effectively.
I think Nakai can grind her down, so a few on the “Queen of Pancrase” makes sense.
If you want to get statistical about it, Pearson will beat Laprise because he’s alternated wins and losses in his last seven fights and recently lost a decision. In terms of actual technical analysis, I’m not convinced of Laprise’s durability and there’s nothing about his game that suggest he can shut down Pearson’s boxing as others have before.
Therefore, a bit on the Brit makes sense.

Thoughts: The man of the hour this time around — who will be a much better man of the hour than the last one — is Johnny Case, who for a brief time was an underdog but is still a value.
Jake Matthews is murderous from top position — he’s made that much obvious. However, he is still a work-in-progress in the wrestling and striking departments, not to mention the fact that he got dropped by a very limited striker in Akbarh Arreola. Case is a man who I believe has the skills to crack the division’s top tiers and his striking and takedown defense are more than enough to shut down the Aussie.
As far as the others, Seo Hee Ham seems like a solid pick. Rawlings hasn’t fought in nearly one year and has never been all that impressive as a professional, while Ham has proven a very capable brawler. She seems like a solid investment, especially if you parlay her with someone like Antonio Carlos Jr. for positive odds.
