The UFC’s final show for the month of April is a Fight Night card in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Originally scheduled for ESPN, the main card is now on ESPN+ after Jack Hermansson was slotted into headliner status to face longtime middleweight contender Ronaldo Souza. Yoel Romero was Jacare’s original opponent, but withdrew due to illness.
In the co-main event, we are subjected to Greg Hardy’s second UFC fight, as Dimitrii Smoliakov returns to the Octagon to take on the disgraced former NFL player who was once convicted of assaulting his girlfriend (the charges were later expunged). This is Hardy’s second straight co-main appearance, and he’s in search of his first UFC win.
Two late notices concerning this card: Jessica Penne has withdrawn from her bout vs. Jodie Esquibel, and she’ll be replaced by her friend and teammate Angela Hill. Meanwhile, Eric Wisely was removed from his fight vs. Gilbert Burns due to Wolff Parkinson White syndrome, which is the same heart condition that Dan Hardy has. No replacement has been named yet.
