Live, blow-by-blow updates for today’s UFC event in Fresno, which will be headlined by a featherweight fight between perennial contender Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega.

Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring and play-by-play as UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Ortega takes place in Fresno, California.

The headliner comes in the featherweight division, with Cub Swanson taking on upstart Brian Ortega.

Today’s event follows standard Fight Night timing. Live results and play-by-play will commence with the Fight Pass broadcast at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT for three fights. The event will then move to FS1 at 8pm ET/5pm PT for four preliminary fights, and stay there for the six-fight main card which kicks off at 10pm ET/7pm PT.

Carls John de Tomas vs. Alex Perez

Round 1 – De Tomas with a nice counter early. Body kicks from Perez. Left hook to the body from De Tomas. Perez in on a takedown, but it gets stuffed and De Tomas is looking for his own now. Front headlock from Perez and he’s looking for a submission with it. He rolls and secures a D’Arce! Nice defense from De Tomas. Perez can’t take his back and De Tomas gets up. They scramble a bit. They’re locked up in a neutral position on the ground. De Tomas keeps looking for a takedown after they got up, but Perez is clubbing him with elbows. Perez pushes him to the floor and lands an elbow. 10-9 Perez.

Round 2 – Perez scoops a single and gets a nice takedown. He’s immediately in side control. Hard short elbow. He takes the back and lands some punches. He traps an arm and opens up with strikes. He’s looking for the D’Arce choke again, and he gets it. De Tomas taps.

Frankie Saenz vs. Merab Dvalishvili

Round 1 – Dvalishvili missed with a crazy spinning kick. They clinch up. Three big knees to the body from Saenzbut Dvalishvili gets brief a takedown. They scramble. He gets a couple more but he can’t keep Saenz down. Dvalishvili has a cut on his head, that appearently came from a clash of heads. Dvalishvili looking for another takedown. He gets it against the cage. Not for long though. Another takedown. Frankie’s shorts get pulled down. 10-9 Dvalishvili.

Round 2 – They brawl into the clinch and Dvalishvili gets a takedown. As usual though, it only stays on the floor for a few seconds. Saenz with a nice knee in the clinch. He scores with a leg kick and looks for his own takedown. Without success. Knee to the body again from Saenz. Dvalishvili in on a takedown, and he gets it. Saenz up after about 10 seconds. Elbow from Saenz on a clinch break. Dvalishvili with a counter right. Another takedown, but Saenz was up after about four seconds. Elbow from Saenz. Yet another takedown. Saenz is in a sitting position, looknig bored. Dvalishvili walks him all the way to the cage, just to be stood up. Lame. Guess what happened next? Yup, another takedown! 10-9 Dvalishvili.

Round 3 – They collide heads again. Dvalishvili is really bleeding now. He’s constantly working in the clinch for a takedown. Spinning back fist connects for Dvalishvili. Another extended clinch battle. They break and Saenz lands a knee. Saenz spins this time. They trade shots in the pocket. Saenz fights off a takedown attempt. Both men are tired. Dvalishvili gets another brief takedown. Saenz lands a big left uppercut on the feet, but it’s too little too late. 10-9 and 30-27 Dvalishvili.

Iuri Alcantara vs. Alejandro Perez

Round 1 – Slow start. Both men pawing with punches, not really putting anything into them though. Outside leg kick from Alcantara. The crowd is getting impatient. Body kick from Perez. More staring. Both men looking to counter but someone has to throw first. Alcantara finally looks to spin but misses. Perez connects. Leg kick from Alcantara. He charges in but gets clipped. 10-9 Alcantara.

Round 2 – Perez catches a kick and dumps Alcantara to the floor. He’s up immediately. They’re still keeping an extremely slow pace. It looks like a sparring session, and the crowd is booing. Perez catches a kick and lands a right. Front kick from Alcantara. Straight right too. Perez with a shot and he scoops a single. He can’t get Alcantara to the floor though. Low kick from Perez. Straight left from Perez. Alcantara lands his own. 10-9 Perez I guess.

Round 3 – Alcantara with an outside leg kick. Perez with a combo. Perez with a left hook. Yuri with a counter right. We’re halfway through the round and that’s literally all that has happened. Body kick from Perez. Alcantara with a left hook. Neither man can get a takedown. They engage in a clinch battle. Perez catches a kick and sweeps the back leg out. Alcantara with a front kick. Perez dropped Alcantara with a right! He’s up immediately. Alcantara with a left. They finally decide to fight with 15 seconds to go. Alcantara couldn’t get the late takedown. 10-9 and 29-28 Perez.

Alejandro Perez defeated Iuri Alcantara by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Chris Gruetzemacher vs. Davi Ramos

Round 1 – Ramos with a couple of overhand rights. Greutzemacher stuffs a shot and jumps on top. They return to the feet quickly. Ramos with jabs. Greutzemacher with a low leg kick. Ramos with a big flying knee, but Greutzemacher just eats it. Ramos catches a kick and puts Greutzemacher on the floor. He’s landing a few shots in half guard but not advancing. The last two minutes of the round was a lot of that. More punches from Ramos. 10-9 Ramos.

Round 2 – Hard body kick, and a right drops Greutzemacher. Greutzemacher lands a knee but it was right as Ramos was shooting in and he got him to the floor. They got stood up after like 15 seconds. That’s brutal. Uppercut from Greutzemacher. Ramos just missed a spinning backfist. Greutzemacher landed a knee on a Ramos takedown attempt. Big right hook from Greutzemacher. Ramos landed a looping left hook. Greutzemacher responds with a straight left. Ramos shoots but there’s nothing happening. Greutzemacher with a leg kick. They trade shots inside. Ramos is gassing, but he scores a nice takedown. It doesn’t stay on the ground long though. Hard jab from Ramos, and a combo. Greutzemacher follows up with a hard straight right and a knee. Ramos with another takedown. 10-9 Greutzemacher.

Round 3 – Ramos with a jab. Ramos gets a takedown and immediately gets the back. A choke is sunk witin seconds, and Greutzemacher taps! That was slick!

Antonio Braga Neto vs. Trevin Giles

Round 1 – Frank Trigg is the referee! Giles lands a nice shot early. Braga Neto is being cautious. Braga Neto clinches up and takes Giles to the floor. He’s working in half guard against the cage. Braga Neto is trying to trap a wrist to advance a submission attempt, but Giles is handfighting well. He lands a few punches and moves to mount with 40 seconds to go. Giles is yelling from the bottom. Braga Neto can’t get anything going in mount. Nonetheless, he won the round. 10-9 Braga Neto.

Round 2 – Giles trying to bait Braga Neto into a striking battle early. Nice jab. Braga Neto with a counter left hook. Another jab and straight right follow-up. Now a right cross. Leg kick too. Braga Neto looks a little gassed. Braga Neto goes to the body. A big right from Braga Neto stumbled Giles, but he fired right back and hurt Braga Neto! He’s not pressing the action though. Nice combination from Giles. He goes back to the body. Counter left as well. He’s beating the Brazilian up with his jab. Two big rights. 10-9 Giles.

Round 3 – Braga Neto looking for an early takedown. And he gets Giles to his butt against the cage. He jumps on the back but he’s too high. Giles dumps him off and walks away. Braga Neto gets up. Beauty jab from Giles. Another. Giles lands two big shots and Braga Neto goes down. It’s over.
